“Working on my own it was good to get an external take on things.”
Giles Polito is a freelance marketing consultant, he signed up to Create Growth to access the fully-funded business support it offers.
Running his company Glide on his own, Giles found the networking element as well as workshops tailored towards businesses operating in the creative industry, to be beneficial.
“Create Growth is a comprehensive and rounded programme that is relevant and practical – not over complicated or theoretical,” he said.
“It was targeted and manageable in terms of a time commitment and the virtual sessions worked really well for me.
“It was good to be part of something that was offering genuine support with no strings attached and to get the thoughts of others on how I’m doing things.
“Even when workshops were on something I knew about, there were still aspects to learn, or it validated how I already approach certain things.”
Offering strategic advice on marketing and brand to local hospitality and retail businesses, Giles was impressed with the workshops and team delivering them.
He added: “Speakers understood the industry and took the time to know about people’s businesses. They’re experienced and knowledgeable – you know you’re getting good advice.”
He also enjoyed the added benefit of the peer network formed among the cohort.
“It was good to have the first session in person and to meet a group of people with similar ambitions.
“The opportunity for networking was incidental but beneficial. It was good to talk to other business owners despite working in different areas because we all had some shared experiences.”
